The Hurt Plant Hire Penwortham Bypass Running Festival 2019 is a one off event taking place on a new section of the Penwortham Bypass; part of a major road infrastructure investment by Lancashire County Council in South Ribble, organised by the Rotary Club of Preston Guild.
The runs will take place on a 1km long dual carriageway section of the new Penwortham Bypass. The road is totally flat, has been UKA accurately measured and has full PB potential at both 5k and 10k distances - both races are chip timed. The 5k race is 2 1/2 laps of the dual carriageway and the 10k 5laps. Bespoke medals and t-shirts for all finishers, plus prizes. Entries are limited.
The fun run is a single lap of 2k. Bespoke medal for all finishers, plus prizes for first 3 boys and girls. Due to the anticipated numbers the run will NOT be timed. Entries are limited.
The idea for this ONCE in a lifetime run is to celebrate the investment in the new road and provide a memory for all entrants but more importantly our young people who enter the fun run who will have a lifelong memory when they later drive themselves on the road, that they ran on it before it opened. For the 5k & 10k winners their course records will stand for ever.
All proceeds will be passed on locally and nationally.
The event takes place from the All Hallows School playing fields on Liverpool Road (A59), Penwortham, Preston.
